As Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo take a decisive new step toward lasting and just peace, I would like to reaffirm our deep commitment to supporting both countries in this historic process. Congolese youth, who embody hope, innovation, and resilience, must be placed at the heart of this dynamic. Through the Youth Institute, we are committed to strengthening the capacities of young people through training, leadership, and peace education, so that they can become key players in the development and stability of the region.
We are aware that the road to truly lasting peace remains long and demanding. That is why we call on both countries to redouble their efforts to preserve and consolidate the initial progress made. The lives of men and women remain the greatest wealth in the world, and must remain at the center of any peace initiative.
In this collective effort, the role of the United States remains crucial. Its ongoing commitment to peace, regional cooperation, and support for development initiatives provides essential backing for consolidating achievements and opening up new prospects for eastern DRC.
It is together, as States, international partners, youth organizations, and civil society, that we can build an inclusive, solid, and forward-looking peace.
