The Sports Ecosystem as a Driver of Sustainable Development
The global sports ecosystem extends far beyond competition and entertainment; it represents a powerful platform for economic growth, social inclusion, and sustainable development. Major sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup generate employment, stimulate tourism, and promote infrastructure development while uniting diverse cultures around shared values of teamwork, respect, and excellence.

As the world prepares for the FIFA World Cup 2026, sustainability has become a central concern within the sports ecosystem. Environmentally responsible stadiums, green transportation systems, and digital ticketing solutions demonstrate how innovation can reduce ecological footprints while maintaining the excitement and global reach of sports. When managed responsibly, sports can act as a catalyst for long-term development rather than short-term consumption.
Moreover, sports play a vital role in youth empowerment and social cohesion. Through education, leadership programs, and community-based initiatives, young people gain access to opportunities that foster discipline, resilience, and civic engagement. Sports-based diplomacy also strengthens international cooperation by creating dialogue across borders and cultures.
I would like to respectfully acknowledge Mr. Gabriel MVOGO SAINT, President of the International Youth Institute, for his visionary leadership and commitment to promoting youth intellectual engagement on a global scale. Initiatives such as this reinforce the importance of youth voices in shaping a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable future through sport.
